GRAIN STORAGE & MARKETING
Many factors impact grain quality, ranging from hybrid selection to growing conditions to harvesting techniques. Quality grain is necessary for quality food, so mills look for good test weight, nutritional value, and lack of insects, disease and foreign matter amongst the grain. When corn, soybeans and small grains are harvested, the crop is hauled in hopper or dump trailers to our farm or another designated facility where it is weighed, moisture tested and checked for debris. Grain that is too wet for safe storage is dried before being placed in a dry bin, and can be marketed throughout the year.
